How upload a picture

Before you upload, make sure your file is RGB jpeg format and less than 20Mb in size. Most files will typically fall within a range of 500kb and 4Mb. Don't worry if you are not sure. If you have a consumer camera or camera phone, by default the file is most likely to be a jpeg. Most images are photographed landscape. However, the system will automatically orientate portrait files.

Please note that from some older digital cameras, you may need to rotate portrait images and save before uploading. Most new digital cameras auto save portraits upright for you.

From professional digital formats or scans, you will need to crop the image to 152mm x 114mm at a minimum of 133 dpi (300 dpi preferred) before uploading.

The digital file you upload should be correctly exposed. It should not be too dark or too bright. If the file looks too dark or poor in some other way, if possible, please adjust the image through third party software before uploading. If we think the image is dark, we may decide to brighten it on your behalf although we do not guarantee a good result from a poor image.

If you've not uploaded an image on the internet before, you'll find it easier than you may imagine. There are three easy steps:

Step one - find your image file. Click on "Browse" The easiest place to keep pictures to upload is in "My Documents" or "My Pictures" or in a folder on your Desktop.

It often helps finding your image to set your folder to show thumbnails:

Step two - click on the image file and click on "Open". You'll notice the path location in the "Upload an image" box.

Step three - Click on "Update". Watch the progress bar at the bottom of the browser (often green blocks moving left to right) to get an idea of upload time remaining. Most camera files will only take a moment to upload. When your file is uploaded it will show in the frame.

How to set a caption

Enter up to a maximum of 48 characters including spaces between words as a mixture of upper and lower case. The maximum number of upper case only characters is 30. The font we print is a special handwriting script not standard on PCs or Macs. Due to technical screen display limitations, it is not possible to display the text in the frame preview. Please double check spelling as our system will print exactly the text you have entered.

If you do not want a title in the frame, leave the caption blank and we will frame your picture without a title window below the image.

How to change the frame

Simply click on the corner image of the frame. The frame will change on screen. If you click on canvas, it will simulate a canvas on screen and remove any caption. You may choose a frame after canvas and the title entered will appear.

About the frames

The frames are manufactured from recycled polymers and include an "Iced White" slightly textured mount, plastic glass, table top stand and wall hanger including a wall hook. The external dimensions of the frame are approximately 283mm x 232mm x 14mm. The image is printed at 148mm x 110mm approximately on a photo paper using pigment inks. The image is fade resistant for in excess of 50 years under normal room light.

About the canvas

The image has a black border added and printed on to a synthetic woven canvas. It is then matte laminated making it resistant to marking. The image is wrapped around a frame and a wall hanger, table stand and wall hook is included. The final canvas is approximately 283mm x 212mm.

How we send the frames and canvases

We dispatch frames and canvases by Royal Mail within the UK and Royal Mail International to European destinations. We offer an optional 48 business hours express service within mainland UK.
